The Forsyte Saga is a sweeping trilogy that follows the fortunes of three generations of an upper-middle-class London family. These books provide social commentary on the selfishness of the upper classes and their obsession with money. The first book, The Man of Property, introduces Soames Forsyte and his wife Irene and tells the story of their turbulent marriage. In Chancery continues with the separation of the couple and their marriages to different people. In the last book of the saga, To Let, Soames?s daughter and Irene?s son fall in love, but cannot overcome their parents? past.
